Graduation

Graduation is one of the most significant occasions in your university career.

All your hard work over the past few years has led up to this. It’s your moment to shine. Your chance to reflect, showcase and celebrate everything you have achieved. A degree from SOAS expands minds and open doors.

2023 ceremonies

SOAS graduation 2023 will be held on Tuesday 5, Wednesday 6 and Thursday 7 September 2023, at Friends House, Euston, London. Ceremonies will take place at 10am and 2pm each day and are expected to last around 90 minutes.

A post-ceremony reception on campus will immediately follow each ceremony. 

Who can attend September 2023 graduation

The graduation ceremonies taking place in September 2023 are for: 

  • Undergraduate students who will complete their studies in Summer 2023
  • Postgraduate and PhD students who completed their degrees in Autumn 2022

To attend a ceremony, graduates must meet our eligibility criteria:

  1. Your award must have been confirmed at the School Board (students are notified via email when their results have been confirmed and released).
  2. You must have paid your tuition fees in full.
  3. You must have confirmed your registration (when required) on the Ede and Ravenscroft website.

Note: If you have late summer resits in 2023, you will be eligible to attend the ceremonies in September 2024.

Students can invite up to two guests to join them to celebrate their special day. Guest tickets can be purchased at registration. 

Booking your place

Students eligible to attend the September 2023 graduation ceremony will receive details on how to register in July. Students will be able to purchase up to two guest tickets. Children over the age of two will require a guest ticket.  

Registration will open in late July and remain open until 18 August 2023 

Academic dress is compulsory for all SOAS graduates. Details on how to hire your academic gown will be included in the registration details. 

Arranging travel  

Please do not book any travel until you receive confirmation that you are eligible to participate in the September 2023 graduation ceremonies. Any travel arrangements booked before receiving is done so at your own risk.  

International students and guests travelling from abroad may require a Standard Visitor visa for the UK to attend a graduation ceremony. Please remember to check the relevant visa requirements. Your graduation invitation and confirmation of attendance from Ede and Ravenscroft (the company that offers the academic gown hire) can be used as evidence in support of the visa application.
