Summer School FAQ

Applications will open on 24 February 2023.

You will need to complete an application form, which consists of some basic personal information and a personal statement explaining your motivations for applying.

Once you've submitted your application, you should receive an email from the Summer School office confirming that we've received your form. You should then receive an email within 7 working days informing you of the outcome of your application. If you receive a conditional offer, you can then confirm your place by making your tuition fee payment.

Our courses are taught intensively and to ensure you get the most out of your experience, we do not allow students to take more than one course at a time.

Assessments are not compulsory - if you would simply like the experience of studying with us this summer without the credits and assessments, please indicate this in your application form.

You must be a university student or a graduate at the time of attending the Summer School. Professional experience can be acknowledged as equivalent to a university qualification.
 
You must be over the age of 18 at the time of attendance to the summer school. You must also have the appropriate level of English to attend.

Students for whom English is not their first language must provide evidence of language proficiency. For further information about the language certificates we accept, please see the Summer School's entry requirements.

Within the application form, you’re able to give information of any disability you have. Please see the SOAS disability and dyslexia service web pages for further information. 

We can provide you with a letter to support your visa application, but before we can do this we need to receive confirmation that you have paid your tuition fees in full and details of booked accommodation, if relevant.  

Yes, you have a right to cancel your application within 14 days of your payment being made. Cancellations received during this time will entitle you to a full refund of any fees you may have paid. After this period, specials terms and conditions for cancellations and refunds of courses apply.

SOAS makes every effort to deliver the summer courses as advertised on the Summer School website. However, under some exceptional circumstances courses may be cancelled. Please check our Terms and Conditions to find out when a course might be cancelled and the options available to you under those circumstances.
